AnaChristina Arana
Communications Strategist
AnaChristina is a public interest communication strategist with broad experience working in partnership with nonprofits, coalitions, and social justice organizations. AnaChristina believes in the power of collective action and she is passionate about using strategic communication to advocate for a more just and equitable world. AnaChristina is a Nicaraguan American born and raised in the Bay Area and currently living in San Francisco. She is a double alumnus of the University of San Francisco, as she earned her B.A. in Communication Studies & Public Relations and her M.A. in Urban & Public Affairs. AnaChristina’s M.A. thesis centers the collective power and expertise of REP-SF, SFADC, and CCHO as multiracial, multicultural housing justice coalitions working across the city to address gentrification and displacement, with a focus on the Mission District. Prior to joining [people. power. media], AnaChristina worked as a graduate intern and research consultant with the multiracial grassroots nonprofit Greenaction for Health & Environmental Justice. AnaChristina previously worked as an account executive at Spitfire Strategies, a strategic communication firm that partners with mission-driven organizations, where she worked on strategic communication planning and project management, narrative and messaging, social media and digital strategy, and media relations. She also worked as a communications intern with Earthjustice, the nonprofit public interest environmental law organization. AnaChristina has worked on advancing meaningful social change on issues, including environmental justice, civil rights, voting rights, criminal legal reform, education equity, and combating mis/disinformation targeting communities of color.
